n this scorching hot weather, it is necessary to have certain foods that will cool our body and thereby protect our body from the harmful hazardous ultraviolet rays of the sun. Having too much of oily foods which are especially deep-fried would further increase the heat level in our body and thus we all must avoid having deep fried food stuff in summer like samosas and bhajias.

  • WATERMELON

You can even prepare your own flavourful and colourful detox drink by mixing watermelon pieces, lemon, mint leaves, small piece of ginger in a bottle full of water of course.

  • BOTTLE GOURD

Bottle gourd is another popular food that can be consumed especially in summer since it hydrates your body as well as it is loaded with antioxidants that will protect you from various kinds of cancers. It is a very good source of Vitamin C and beneficial for diabetic patients and heart patients as well as it helps to lower the blood sugar levels in diabetic patients as well as bad cholesterol levels in individuals suffering from cardiovascular problems. You can prepare bottle gourd juice and the best time to consume bottle gourd juice is early in the morning.

  • CURD

There are many benefits of consuming curds. Not only will it help in increasing the gut good flora level in your gut but it helps to keep your intestinal cells strong. It helps to hydrate your body well during summers. You can add some cut fruits and sprinkle some chia seeds and add it in your cup of curd or else consume raita or buttermilk too. Raita could be consumed along with antioxidant-rich khichdi which is a good cereal and pulse combination.

  • COCONUT WATER

Coconut water is very beneficial for health especially in summers as it helps to keep your body cool by keeping your body well hydrated. It is also a good source of potassium which is very beneficial for people with high blood pressure. It is loaded with ample vitamins and minerals and can be consumed during the mid-morning or late evenings as well. According to several research studies, coconut water has been seen to be beneficial for diabetic patients as well by improving the level of insulin sensitivity in diabetic patients.

Melons are rich in Vitamin C which is a good source of antioxidant which helps to scavenge free radicals as well as it helps to hydrate your body especially during summers. You can sprinkle some flax seeds which are rich in fibre on cut melons and then consume it or have it plain as well. It depends upon each one’s preference.
