Why Is Omega 3 Required?

Many individuals these days are deficient in Omega 3 fatty acids. They are very essential for the body since they should be obtained from our diet. One of the most magical effects that Omega 3 fatty acids produce is that it has many anti-inflammatory compounds that help to cure, prevent and treat various diseases like arthritis, heart diseases and many more.

 

Sources of Omega 3 fatty acids include fish like salmon and herring for individuals who consume non- veg foods. Individuals who eat non veg will get their source of omega three fatty acid from Docosahexanoic acid (DHA) and Eicosapentanoic acid (EPA). People who basically do not like the taste of fish can have fish cod capsules instead. All the vegetarians you all need not worry since you can have vegetarian sources of omega 3 fatty acids like nuts and oilseeds. Vegetarian sources of omega three fatty acid contain ALA which gradually gets converted to EPA and DHA ultimately. Examples of nuts include almonds, walnuts and hazelnuts. Flax seed oil and canola oil are also very good sources of omega three fatty acid.

Following are some of the reasons why omega three fatty acid is beneficial for health.

1) PROMOTES GOOD SLEEP IN INDIVIDUALS

Owing to today’s hectic lifestyle and stressful schedule many individuals find it very difficult to get enough amount of sleep due to stress. They are unable to sleep well due to stress. Omega three fatty acids promote good amount of sleep by releasing a hormone called as melatonin that promotes sound sleep in an individual. Thus do not forget to include your daily dose of omega three fatty acid in your diet. You can have a handful of roasted or unroasted walnuts or almonds in the middle of your meetings or early in the morning as well when you get up.

2) PREVENTS STROKE

Yes, indeed Omega three fatty acids can be called a man’s best friend since it helps to lower the blood pressure in anindividual by dilating the blood vessels. Thus, harmful diseases like atherosclerosis can be prevented and ultimately thrombosis, embolism, dyslipidemia (abnormal lipid levels in the body) and stroke since omega three fatty acids are anti- inflammatory in nature. Do not only consume it after getting a heart disease. But it should be included in your diet daily to prevent various inflammatory diseases.

3) IT CAN HELP TO EASE OUT MENSTRUAL PAIN IN WOMEN

During menstruation many women undergo pain in the abdomen, hips and have severe cramps. According to many research studies it has been observed that women who consumed Omega three rich sources like nuts and oilseeds on a daily basis faced less cramps during periods than women who do not consume nuts and oilseeds on a regular basis. You can also apply hot water bags on your abdomen to ease menstrual pain and most importantly add ginger in your black tea and consume it. It will definitely help to ease menstrual cramps along with consuming good sources of omega three fatty acids in your diet.

4) IT HELPS TO ALLEVIATE RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

During Rheumatoid arthritis many individuals experience a lot of pain in their joints and stiffness in the joints. According to  several studies it has been observed that consuming Omega three fatty acid sources have shown to alleviate the symptoms of joint pain and stiffness in an individual. Hence always remember to have Omega three fatty acids daily in your diet as they are anti-inflammatory in nature and can alleviate the inflammatory markers like C reactive protein levels in the body.
