Let’s check out the healthy side of the most claimed unhealthy foods: Indian Cuisines. Let us spice them up!

 

Indians possess warmth in every aspect of livelihood. It is a country to be believed in unity among diversity. And the diverse nature is profound in culture, fashion, and most importantly food. Food is not a mean of survival for the Indians. Food and emotions are extremely interconnected with each other.

 

To make it easy, let’s take a real life example-

When a mother rebukes her child, she offers some sweet dishes to make the kid happy and bring back to the casual mood. Indians have all sorts of foods which can suit and satisfy every individual emotion of human being. There are spicy foods to warm up any celebration, or sweet dishes to enhance the cosiness of romantic hangouts.

 

But it is sad to announce that Indian cuisines are claimed to be the unhealthiest diet by the researchers. Excessive use of spices, heavy cooking oils, added sugars and many things erased the healthy tag from the Indian diet plans. These features of Indian beverages are responsible for many health issues including diabetes, cardiovascular problems, obesity, arthritis and many others. Last two issues are commonly found in Indian women. To sum up we can say that Indian cuisines are highly appreciated for its taste and aroma, contrarily on the other hand it is highly criticised for it negative effects on our health.

 

Let me introduce a surprising twist here. Very few persons among us believe that we can actually lose weight with Indian food. If we study the benefits of the spices used in Indian savouries we can build knowledge on weight loss Indian food. Let us discuss the benefits of few spices commonly used in Indian foods.

 

Cinnamon – This is the most aromatic and refreshing spice used in Indian food items. It is a diabetes friendly spice which can reduce the symptoms of insulin resistance. Along with this, cinnamon can help to prevent indigestion, common cold, diarrhoea, poor blood circulation and mood swings during menstruation.

 

Cloves – It is universally accepted that clove is highly effective to cure gum problems. It contains anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. Hence it is also used in making toothpastes. Apart from this clove oils are used in producing perfumes also.

 

CuminCumin or jeera is used for temperament to make dals or any other curry. Cumin is beneficial for digestion; it can prevent anaemia and common cold. You will be very surprised to know that cumin can cure the dangerous disease called piles. It provides human body with various minerals such as manganese and Iron. And the most important it plays a vital role in cutting off the extra flabs.

 

Black PepperBlack pepper was equivalent to gold for the ancient traders. A dash of pepper can enhance any tasteless dish. It is an amazing producer of hydrochloric acid which is effective in digestion. It can also be used in reducing hypertension and curing problems as constipation and many others.

 

In the final analysis it can be said that all the spices used in Indian cuisines have individual beneficial properties. The common mistake we, the Indians, do is to use the spices excessively. If we can change this habit and try to use moderate amount of spices during cooking, select the right oil then we can remove the negative tag of ‘Unhealthiest food’ from Indian diet plan.
