Flax seeds are also popularly commonly known as “Alsi” in Hindi language. Our native Indian seeds like these have incredible health benefits like it has ample amount of omega three fatty acids which boosts our neurological cells and thus helps one think sharper and quicker.

It also protects a person from developing heart disease like atherosclerosis and heart attack. Not only does it have many heart  friendly benefits but also it contains a lot of fibre which helps to prevent constipation in individuals. There are many individuals who are literally struggling to lose weight but fail to do so because they give up too easily and consume a diet which is low in fibre and filled with harmful fats present in pizzas and burgers. Flax seeds contain good fats which helps to increase the high-density lipoprotein level in a person’s body which will help to remove harmful fats from our body surrounding our vital organs like the kidney, heart and liver. It also has ample amount of fibre too. Hence, it aids individuals who are struggling to lose weight to achieve their desired target.

Since this magical ingredient has ample amount of health benefits, we must know how to inculcate flaxseeds in our diet.

1) ADD THEM TO YOUR SMOOTHIES

You can add flaxseed to your smoothies daily like banana apple smoothie or oats and apple smoothie. They will help to boost the nutritional profile of the smoothie that you consume as they are loaded with omega three fatty acids, iron, fibre, protein, magnesium, manganese and selenium. You can even add chia seeds along with flax seeds as they are loaded with B vitamins, iron and fibre and will enhance the nutritional profile of the smoothie that you are consuming even further.

2) ADD THEM TO YOUR BREAKFAST CEREAL

Another popular way of consuming flaxseed is by adding them to your breakfast cereals like oatmeal. This is the perfect way to kick start your day early in the morning by including good fats in your diet. You can even add a few pieces of chopped apples to your breakfast smoothie as it is a good source of soluble fibre which again helps to prevent various heart diseases.

3) SPRINKLE THEM ON YOUR FRUITS

Fruits can be chopped into fine pieces and flaxseeds can be added to these cut fruits thus increasing the nutritional profile of cut fruits. Chia seeds can be added along with flaxseeds too. You can choose your favorite fruit. Add some amount of chat masala to it if you do not like it plain. You will definitely love consuming it. Flaxseed can be roasted or unroasted both and then sprinkled on fruits. Some prefer having it roasted due to the crunchier taste.

4) ADD THEM TO YOUR SALADS ESPECIALLY TO YOUR GREENS

Another popular way of including flaxseed to your diet is by sprinkling them over your salads and by adding greens to your salad like spinach. Spinach and flaxseed are a very good combination. You can also include boiled egg pieces in the salad dish too.

5) INCLUDE THEM IN YOUR GRANOLA BARS

Many granola bars these days use flaxseed in them along with other ingredients like sunflower seeds, oats and chia seeds. Many Indian households can include this ingredient in the form of laddu’s and consume them because of their incredible health benefits.
