My story – Debalina | FitNet Gym

written by Dr. Debalina Pradhan |     November 3, 2018

Story of Debalina, story of me, story of a simple girl.

Yes I am and I was once… I loved to eat a lot. I liked fast food, chocolates, rice, fries, biryani and more. I had always been fat in the entire childhood.

But the childhood times are different. People used to tell me fat kid then,
I ignored, I never got motivation or my family members never told me that i should lose
weight. I should be thin like some of my friends.

I never ever bothered about maintaining figure or eating healthy, losing fat.

Time goes on, puberty hits, dysmenorrhoea almost killed me every month, getting fat. College
life started and I was getting bullied, never got a popularity and any priority in college, clothes
size was L, waist got 32. I was so camera shy, that I never clicked a picture when the other
batchmates were joining fashion shows and getting popular.

The inner me was getting depressed sometime. It was 2013, when I suddenly decided that I have to do
something about it. I started dieting but had no idea about diet plan and never joined gym that
time. I cut off the chocolates, fast food. It was so painful for me to control my cravings at that time…

When people offered me something i just said “No”. They criticized me. I never listened them
at all. After 3 months of cutting off calories my weight came down from 66 kg to 52 kg. Then people
started asking how I did and all. I joined gym after one year, started proper dieting, started
losing fat, after getting my weight down to 46, I started strength training, more cardio, and
beside i did my MBBS.

It is 2018 now. My life has changed a lot. But how much???

Hold on, I am telling u…
1. my confidence level is up to 100%
2. become a die hard fitness freak
3. the people used to make fun of me and ignored me, are trying to contact me.
4. my unbearable dysmenorrhoea has gone!
5. people notice me everywhere
6. I suffered from depression in 2015 and it just gone
7. kicked out insomnia
8. and so many more…

Now fitness is become my drug of choice everyday. Of course, as a doctor, my duty comes at first
priority. There are hectic schedules. Night shift duties never keep away me from hitting gym.
People tell me that if you are tired, why not bunk gym today? But it is the only thing gives me energy
everyday, keeping me happy and alive…

And most important thing, I keep myself fit and strong just only for me. Not for anyone, not
for attention. It is not like I am not comfortable in my own skin. It is just a daily addiction for
me…
